Transform Scarcity Mindset: Unlock Abundance with Gratitude

What is Abundance?
Traditionally for Thanksgiving, it's a plentiful harvest, with a bounty of food and resources.
Abundance is a feeling of fullness. It is an association with positive feelings, of appreciation, or of hope.
It’s the curiosity of what could be, rather than just what is.
It’s the ability to look at a single seed—and see what it might become.
Abundance mindset is a practice we cultivate that allows us to ask: “Can I see the potential beyond this moment?” or “Can I find value in what’s already here?” , like a muscle, it's something we have develop and work on.
What Holds Us Back? Scarcity Mindset.
Scarcity mindset isn’t a flaw—it’s a survival mechanism.
It shows up when we’ve experienced loss, or pain or challenges or when we have been taught to see life as a zero-sum game:
- “If I don’t take it, someone else will.”
- “If someone else has it, there won’t be enough for me.”
- “I have to earn rest, joy, or health.”
These stories live in our nervous systems. They’re real because we might have experienced it in the past, or it was an important value passed down from our elders. But they’re not the only truth.
So how do we begin to shift?
It starts with a simple (but powerful) practice.
1. Give space to listen to the fear.
Don’t shove it down. Let it speak.
Our bodies protect us for good reason—but when fear is acknowledged, it begins to release, rather than us keep holding onto old believes, or overwhelm, or impossibility.
2. Commit to the alternative.
You don’t have to obey the fear.
Ask yourself: “What do I want to feel instead?" “What kind of future am I committed to?”
That’s how you make space for abundance.
3. Practice proactive gratitude.
It’s not just saying thank you when something good happens.
It’s looking for value in the small, ordinary, and overlooked parts of your life.
It’s combing through your day and asking:
- What was wonderful that happened to me today?"
- What opportunity showed up for me today?
- How have I been supported and cared for today?
- What connections, moments or insights that was important for me now or in the future?
So what is abundance mindset again?
Abundance isn’t about what you have.
It’s about how you see—and how you show up.
And your health plays a central role in this.
Because when you feel grounded, clear, and energized, your mind has the space to access creativity, hope, and connection.
When your nervous system feels safe, you stop bracing and start building.
And when you feel well, you remember that YOU are the resource.
What is the most powerful resource we have?
Each other. When we work together to help solve each other's problems.
Human ingenuity can turn worm spit into silk, wood into homes, water into generating electricity. We are capable of incredible things when we recognize the power to co-create and collaborate together.
So, I invite you to do more than give thanks on Thanksgiving season. I invite you to practice it. Daily. Intentionally. Even when it’s imperfect.
Because that’s how we begin to shift.
That’s how abundance grows.
And that’s how you take back control of your energy, your mindset, and the life you’re building.
