A Different Way to Approach Your Health — One That Actually Works Over Time Most healthcare today is designed around visits — short, problem-focused, and often limited by insurance coverage. This works well for acute issues, but it often leaves women feeling stuck when dealing with ongoing symptoms like fatigue, hormone imbalance, gut issues, or brain fog. We do things differently. Our care is structured as a membership program because lasting change is a process, not a single visit. We work closely with you over time — guiding, adjusting, and supporting you step by step — to help you get to where you want to be. Instead of addressing one symptom at a time, we take a systems-based approach, looking at hormones, gut health, detoxification, and lifestyle together. Your plan is personalized to your history, your data, and how your body responds. This allows us to not only improve how you feel now, but also support long-term health, resilience, and prevention — so you’re no longer reacting to your body, but truly understanding and working with it. Who will be a good fit for Dr. Lo's programs? Dr. Lo will call you on the phone. It is an opportunity to discuss your health and wellness goals and for us to learn if you are a good candidate for our program. Be sure to read about the details of our Happy Health Essentials Program before you schedule the call. Can Dr. Lo be my primary care provider? Dr. Lo is a Functional Medicine consultant and cannot be your primary care provider. We recommend all patients maintain a relationship with a primary care provider. Our office does not offer after hours or on-call services. If you have an emergency, you will need to contact your primary care doctor or seek care at an emergency room. For female patients, we recommend you also maintain a relationship with an OB/gyn as we do not provide women’s preventative care such as pap smear. What is your cancellation policy for appointments? We require 48 hours notice for a changed or cancelled appointment. A $500/ hour or $250/ 30minute cancellation fee will apply for a missed appointment. Cancellation notice can be given via phone, email or messaging through patient portal. What is your Privacy Policy? We take your privacy seriously. Please review our policy here . We only accept communications through our secure patient portal or phone system in order to protect your health information once you become our patient. Do you offer video or phone appointments? Yes, we offer video appointments through secure meetings. Phone appointments are available for existing patients, but your initial visit must be in-person or by video. Can I see Dr. Lo as a patient if I live outside of California? Dr. Lo is licensed in California only, so you have to be a resident in California or if  you outside of California, you are required to return for an in-person visit at least once a year. Do I need to visit in-person? Your initial visit needs to be in-person or by by video. You can schedule follow up appointments to be in person, by phone, or by video. If you do not live in a state in which Dr. Lo is licensed, you need to return for an in-person visit at least once a year. Do you work with children? Yes, Dr. Lo works with children over the age of 8 years old. Patients under 18 years old are seen at $500 for intake and $500 / $250 for 60min / 30min follow up visits. Do you work with men? Yes, we do see men in our practice, and our programs are just as effective for men. Can I use my health insurance? We are not contracted with any insurance company and do not bill your insurance.   If you have a PPO plan, your visits may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company at out-of-network provider rates. We recommend you check with your insurance company and ask them about your out-of-network coverage since the reimbursement rate varies with each individual. We are not a Medicare provider and are opted out of the Medicare program. Upon request, we will provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company directly for reimbursement. It will have an ICD-10 code for diagnosis and CPT codes for services performed. If you would like to check on your insurance reimbursement before your visit, the CPT billing codes we use for the Initial visit are 99205. Follow up visits are 99215. We do not guarantee reimbursements from your insurance company. If you would like us to respond to insurance carrier requests for additional information about your claim, Dr.Lo will bill at a prorated amount of her hourly fee to submit this information if the request cannot be completed by the Patient Coordinator. Can I use my FSA/HSA/HRA for my consultation costs or other costs? Typically,  the fees should be reimbursable with your FSA/HSA/HRA. However, different plans may vary, always check with your plan to confirm. What type of lab testings do you offer? Comprehensive Nutrition and Organic Acid Panels • looks at your vitamins and micronutrients and identify key deficiencies that are essential for major metabolic pathways Comprehensive Hormone Testing • Cortisol, Thyroid hormone, Sex hormone panels Comprehensive Stool Analysis • identify inflammation, infections like candida / bacteria / parasites, dysbiosis, and digestive deficiencies Food Allergy and Gluten Sensitivity, Celiac Panel Comprehensive Genetic Testing: • Methylation • Inflammation •Cognitive health • Hormone and Metabolism • Mood and Performance Advanced Cardiac and Diabetes Panel • Inflammatory markers • Advanced Cardiovascular health markers and lipid profiles • Glucose tolerance test Toxic exposure • Mycotoxin • Heavy Metal Neurotransmitter Testing How does advanced lab testing work? For advanced testing done through blood work, we’ll use a lab local to you. For advanced testing done outside of blood work, these will be collected at home. Our team will ship these directly to your home, you’ll ship them back to the lab. All results will be shared with you on your secure patient portal. What is the cost of lab tests? Many tests are covered by insurance or HSA/FSA or Medi-care. It is not part of your Programs fee. We will discuss the necessity of any test, your budget and its cost with you before ordering it. We promise to be cost conscious without compromising your outcomes. We also negotiated direct lab pricing with lab companies for tests not covered by insurance if you have to pay out of pocket. On average, you should budget between $600 – $1500 for functional medicine lab testing. If these don’t fit into your budget, don’t worry. Your medical team will work with you to customize your health plan based on your needs. Their recommendations are always rooted in what is best for your health; your providers are not incentivized to order these tests. Will I have access to my lab results? Yes, they are shared with you in your patient portal where you can download or view.   Do you recommend supplements as part of your treatment plan? We value food as medicine and integrating therapeutic plans through lifestyle changes, but we find supplements to be very helpful in restoring and maintaining health. We offer easy, online ordering for supplements. We hold our choices of supplements to the highest standards in terms of bioavailability, manufacturing practices, and quality control and sourcing. All our patients enjoy a 10% professional discount from our preferred stores. What is your policy for requesting medical records? The administrative cost of sending Medical Records to you or your doctor is $50. You have access to all your labs results through your portal, which you can download and save a copy. Please allow up to 10 business days after you have signed the release form to receive your records.    Can you complete forms and letters I need? What about Disability Claim? Yes. There is a minimum charge of $50, and there may be an additional charge prorated for any physician time spent that is greater than 15 minutes. Our team will not be able to complete your Disability Claim request. As a practice, our policy is to defer this decision to our member's primary care physician (PCP) or sub-specialist providers. If you meet the requirements for disability, we encourage you to discuss your need for a letter and claim submission with your PCP and specialist; however, we are more than happy to send you or your PCP a complete summary of your medical records at our clinic if needed. What happens after the Vitality Renew Method Programs? We offer programs that range from 3-9 months, afterwards, you can continue with extending your continued active care with memberships. Do you have satisfaction guaranteed? While we are confident the program will help you understand better where are you and what you need to move towards recovery, we do not guarantee or promise results.  We also do not refund services that has been rendered.  However, we want you to get the care that you need most. If, for any reason, you decide to discontinue working with us, you would simply notify us by email, portal message, or directly contact us by phone and we will cancel your membership for the next monthly billing cycle. What about One time Functional Medicine Consult? Functional Medicine Consults are offered if you -Want a 1 time appointment with Dr. Lo for 2nd opinions -Want to review you health history and discuss your health in the context using principles of Functional Medicine -Already have a doctor and want possible new directions for your doctor to implement -Want to explore what your treatment would be like with our clinic before you commit to becoming a patient with our program and membership -Dr. Lo will not be able to write prescriptions, or order lab testing without follow up appointments. 90 minutes video or phone consults – $1500 60 minutes video or phone consults – $1000 Please keep in mind that this appointment may not be a good fit if you are: -Looking for a clinician to oversee your treatment -Interested in having Dr. Lo order tests without follow up or write prescriptions for you without follow up.
